Whitton ModellersWhitton Modellers have approximately 30 full members. The club is mainly marine based but with some members having other interests such as aero modelling and railway engineering. We meet at our local water in Bushy Park for regular sailing and steering regattas about twice a month on Saturday, but during the summer it is every Tuesday and Wednesday. Our regular meeting is Tuesday 8.00 pm with a 7.30 pm start in the social club bar at Whitton Community Centre in Percy Road, Whitton. We regularly exhibit at shows, most recently at RAF Halton. ![]() The picture above only shows a very small selection of our models. Those in the background are run on steam, with many of the small engines constructed by our members from scrap. One of our members even brought along one of his aeroplanes. Do you fancy some yachting? Then build a ‘Starlet’ and sail for our cup awarded every year for the winner of the 10 races held throughout the year in Bushy Park. There are now over a dozen yachts that participate in the tournament. Some can be seen here at the RAF Halton show. ![]() Why not join us! Enjoy our organised outings - RAF Duxford, The Royal Dockyard at Chatham, Portsmouth and many more. We have had visiting speakers who have talked to us about fibreglass, the beginnings of computers, Dunkirks Little Ships, The Thames Barrier, dolls houses, antique steam engines, and even Trevor Bayliss - the inventor of the clockwork radio - who enlivened one evening with his anecdotes.
